ESTIMATING MATERIALS

Measure the walls to be covered. Measure windows and doors. From the measured amount for walls, take away the square area of window and doors to determine the area to be covered.

For the first coat, you will need one bag of render for 8 square meters. For the finishing coat you will need one bag for 11 square meters.

Example

The area to be covered is 100 SqM. You will need 100/8 = 12.5 bags for the first coat and 100/11 = 9 bags for the finishing coat. The total amount needed is 21.5 bags. Allow for some wastage and purchase 24 bags.

MIXING

Superwall Roll-On Render is a one-step system. Just add water.
Mix on site in a 20-litre bucket. Place mixing drill in bucket and add 6 litres of clean water and then slowly add and disperse Roll-On Render with mixing drill and let stand for 5 minutes. Then re-mix until the render reaches a cream like consistency.

APPLICATION

Superwall Roll-On Render is to be applied using a roll-on technique. The following steps must be followed for best results.

•  Cut 24 cm wide plastic strips and attach to the floor where wall and floor meat, using masking tape. Tape all areas that you don't want to render eg eave lining, doorframes, window frames with masking tape.

•  Place 6 litres of water in a 20 litre plastic bucket.

•  Dust masks should be worn while mixing. Place Mixing Drill into bucket and slowly mix adding material gradually. (For best result one person mixing while another person is adding material). Mix until cream like thickness has been reached. Let it stand for 5 minutes then remix.

•  Best results are achieved by rendering Heads, Returns and Sills first.

•  Place roller into bucket and dip, slowly remove roller and place roller on top edge of return and slowly roll downward , using gravity to apply the Roll-on Render to wall. Excess material is rolled downwards.

•  Place plastic trowel on return and remove excess with a horizontal stroke, stay tight to brick work.

•  Rub plastic trowel tight to brickwork not to loose shape of existing profile of brickwork.

•  Finish sills, returns and heads first.

•  When material has tightened up, run a flat plastic trowel down edge. Make sure not to lose shape of angle. Let angles set for 24 hours before rendering walls. Remove masking tape and clean up.

•  Re-mask Windows, Sills and returns; relay plastic 24 cm wide strip to floor and cover floor with drop sheets (Repeat item number 1).

•  Mix a bucket of Roll-on Render. Dip roller into bucket of render, when roller is full, pull slowly out of bucket and place roller at the top of wall, slowly rolling downward. Repeat this process 3 times, and then roll excess material downward.

•  A second person can then use a plastic trowel to remove excess material with a pulling horizontal stroke. Keep tight to brick work.

•  Rub wall in a vertical motion, keeping tool plum to arm, and using a downward stroke.

•  When material has taken up, rub with trowel in a circular motion. Remove masking tape, plastic strips and clean up all waste materials.

•  Let Roll on Render set for 24 hours.

•  Before starting your finishing coat, rub wall with grinding float to remove high spots.

•  Broom wall to remove dust.

•  Repeat item number 1.

•  Repeat item number 3, but make Roll on Render slightly wetter than first coat.

•  Place roller into bucket and dip slowly, remove roller and place roller to top of wall and slowly roll downwards, using gravity to apply Roll on Render to wall. Repeat three times.

•  With plastic trowel in right hand, remove excess material with a horizontal stroke, wiping excess on wide plasterers building knife in left hand.

•  Rub with a plastic trowel with a circular motion on walls and straight strokes on returns.

•  When happy with result, remove masking and clean up.

•  You may use the griding float to smoothen the surface.

SAFETY ADVICE

SKIN / EYE IRRITATION

•  Freshly mixed concrete, mortar, grout and slurry may cause skin irritation including alkaline burning and dermatitis.

•  Avoid contact with skin by wearing suitable clothing and PVC gloves.

•  When handling wear eye protection.

•  In the event of contact, wash skin immediately with clean water to help minimise possible irritation.

•  If any material gets into the eyes, flush immediately and repeatedly with clean water or eyewash solution.

•  If irritation persists seek medical attention.

RESPIRATORY IRRITATION

•  This material may cause respiratory irritation. Suitable respiratory equipment (particle mask) should be used when handling.
